What do we do?
We help young people who are affected by drugs, alcohol or solvents. This can be because of their own use or someone else’s. We talk with young people about the risks of using substances, how to use in safer ways and how to change their lifestyle.
For young people who feel they have a problem with substance use, we work out an action plan to sort things out. The action plan can cover everything from help with relationships through to medical treatments such as detox.
We are a confidential service. The only times we break this are when someone is being abused or they are in danger. Workers always explain confidentiality to young people when they first meet them.
How do I contact the YPSMT?
It’s ok to phone us direct on 01743 369345 – if we’re out, leave a message with your name and number and we’ll get back to you.
We are open 8.45am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on Fridays.
If you don’t want to call yourself, it’s ok to get someone else to phone for you, this could be a mate, a family member, a Youth Worker or a CHAT worker.
Have a look at our flyer – it has workers’ mobile numbers on it – you can phone or text them if you want.
What happens if I contact the YPSMT?
We will take some basic details from you such as name, address, phone number and what you want help with. We always ask how you want to be contacted. This can be via your mobile, letter, email or through another worker.
We do not inform any one else you have contacted us unless you want us to.
Within 5 days a worker from YPSMT will contact you to fix a time to meet up.
