Having sex with someone you care about is a big decision. Sex can be fun, but make sure you play safe. It is important to be aware that there are laws in place to protect you from harm, whether you are in gay or straight relationship. For example, it is illegal to have sex with someone who is unable to consent or who does not consent.
The law and sex for lesbian, gay and bisexual couples
The law regarding sexual practices has changed. The law now takes a “gender neutral” approach to sex granting equal rights in law for gay (homosexual) and straight (heterosexual) couples.
Age of Consent
Age of consent is now equal for all. This is age 16 in England, Wales and Scotland and 17 in Northern Ireland.
